Lakefield United Church Seeks Volunteers for New Emergency Community Comfort Centre

Lakefield United Church is opening a new Emergency Community Comfort Centre and is inviting community members to volunteer in two key roles: Operations Coordinator and Volunteer.

The Emergency Community Comfort Centre will provide a safe, warm, welcoming, and compassionate daytime space for individuals and families during emergencies such as extreme weather, power outages, or other community disruptions. The goal is to ensure that no one in our community faces these challenges alone.

Coordinators will be responsible for supervising the Emergency Comfort Centre during activations, supporting and directing volunteers, and ensuring safety, dignity, and respect for all guests.

Volunteers working in collaboration with Coordinators will help monitor the space for safety, welcome guests, and serve light refreshments.
No prior experience is required—just a caring heart, reliability, and a desire to support the Lakefield community.

Those interested in volunteering or learning more are encouraged fill out the Volunteer Application or by contacting Sarah at Lakefield United Church, 705-652-3126 or lkflduc@nexicom.net.

Together, we can continue to build a strong, compassionate community.
